Add a "v" option to return the current version of the sketch/app. I recently acquired JeeNodes through Modern Devices and the RF12Demo flashed on the chip is an older version so it did not follow the web page instructions for verifying your node works (i.e. my version was missing the "t" option). It would also be nice if that were extended to return the version on all JeeNodes that may be running the RF12Demo :)

An Ethernet 'JeeNetNode' can even have an "check for updates on startup" option...

    I hear ya' - both :)

The version info is a good idea, I'll try and get it in one of these days.

I wouldn't expect RF12demo to be used on other nodes very much, though - it's mostly a config utility to be replaced with some app-specific sketch once the config has be stored in EEPROM. And of course a good first quick check that everything works.

Release management across a network of JNs... whoa, would be nice (but probably a lot of work to get it right and robust). What I tend to do is (very) occasionally walk around and reflash all the nodes in the house. It's not even needed as often as I had expected, because I tend to put new types of nodes in their own netgroup, and just add one more JeeLink to the computer to pick up their packets. Bit wasteful, but since things are likely to remain in flux for a long time to come, it does let me work on experimental ideas alongside more stable stuff. The energy meter sensor here, for example, is still a pre-JeeNode unit, running pretty ancient code. Once the packet comes in, that doesn't matter at all.

I admit that I haven't thought through many ethernet scenario's yet. My guess would be that a common use would be to upload some status info to a local server, or twitter, or pachube. There's a lot of ways to go about this, I suspect. But hey, I digress...
