   I have an JeeNode with a LCD plug powered through a miniUsb cable and have gotten the display contrast to the right level, but when i change the miniUsb connector with a 8V power supply between the GND and PWR pins the text on the LCD can not be read, i have to adjust the LCDplug contrast pot.

   On the LCDplug: i have jumpered R3, the LIGHT is set to +3 and the LOGIC to HI
   What do you reckon i should do to get the same contrast with the power supply and the usb since i do all my development with USB powering and when i get it in the field i have to work the pot. to get the LCD readable

   I'm surprised the LCD display survived - you placed 8V on its logic circuitry...

   Solution: add a 5V voltage regulator to your 8V supply in the field, so you always work with the same voltage.

   It survives so far too. i's been working for 24hours +
   And no heating issue
   Thanks for the reply JC. I'll go get a voltage regulator and get it running
