Is there a good online supplier for the HopeRF RFM12B component? Are they only available through the manufacturer? Thanks,

I don't know of one for the US. In Europe, I occasionally see the module offered online - and people getting together for "group buys" to be able to deal directly with the manufacturer.
Its not optimal to have to rely on a single source, but I solved this by ordering enough of these modules at once to be able to do everything I plan around the house. And some more for the kits - I've just run out of my own supply and am expecting a hundred (!) 868 MHz modules today in fact - that should last a while, I hope.

Just to follow up - after getting a couple of private requests, I'm planning to add RFM12B-868 MHz modules to the Jee Labs shop @ €5 each. That way people getting bare pcb's won't have to jump through hoops to get these modules.
It may take another week as I've just exhausted the Jee Labs supply, yet again. This won't be of use outside Europe - but there are some plans cooking right now to address that as well, stay tuned.

Any updates to this? I've seen the JeeNode V.4 from ModernDevice.com. Just wondering if there any source for delivery to USA of separate RFM12B modules for 433 MHz or 915 MHz band?

Followup: I see SparkFun.com carries the RFM12B (sku: WRL-09582) as well as the more fancy module, RFM22 (sku: WRL-09581).

Best is probably to contact Paul Badger of Modern Device and ask him about supplying separate modules.

Thanks Paul, appreciate it. I was thinking of going with the RFM22, but after reading the 19 point errata on its data sheet (most functionality seems to be broken on the first silicon run..!) I think the RFM12B is the better choice.
