   I am looking to buy a setup which has one remote jeenode and a link to the PC. a jeenode and jeelink will suffice. but a jeenode and jeenode usb give me two platforms to tinker with. and price is the same for jeelink and jeenode-usb. Is there anything in the jeelink that the jeenode-usb cannot do ? is there (example) comms software for a jeenode <-> jeenode-usb RF link ?

   Thanks in advance for guidance on this.

   Ps sorry to litter this forum with such basic questions, it might perhaps be a good idea to create one more forum : "absolute beginners questions" ?

   Maybe this (new) page answers your Q? - it has a link to a comparison chart.

   Spoiler: the JL has 1 Mbyte flash mem, and an accurate crystal so it can collect data when the PC is off (it still needs power, use a hub if that's an issue). The JeeLink will also play a prominent role in a new top secret project (oops, it just got leaked) - as "code server" for over-the-air uploading to multiple JeeNodes.

   If you want to tinker, the JU is a better match. If you want a stick in a conveniently closed box, you may prefer the JL.

   (as for the "beginner" thing ... how else does one go from A to B other than to begin at A and explore/ask?)
