There are some efforts with regard to hdmi-cec on the arduino forum: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1261237176/0
This standard basically sits just on top of the i2c protocol, which makes it an ideal candidate for a plug, I think
It would be nice to have a hdmi plug foot jeenode, adjusting lighting conditions when the tv switches on, switching off the tv when no motion is detected for some time, creating one central "everything off" switch etc. Lots of interesting ideas.
However, I lack the diehard involved in creating custom pcb's and soldering tiny hdmi connectors. It would be nice to have this added to the jee family, especially when it is made to fit the standard box dimensions, bringing out the connector.
