I have a JeeLink and JeeNode USB connected to my laptop and using PuTTY as the Windows7 terminal / serial monitor to communicate with the 2 devices (57600). Both can send and receive data (its magic indeed). My question, when issuing a d cmd to the Jeelink, are you suppose to get a dumb of what has been stored (data msg's sent to the jeelink) in the flash memory??
when typing d into the console the response i get is: >0d

The cmd is a character d.
All commands are echoed as <last-arg> <cmd> - even if there is no numeric argument at all. That's a result of the simplistic built-in parser.
The flash buffer mechanism is not really used much as it is. The "d" command dumps some info about which pages are buffered and what they contain. The "r" command replays the info. This can be quite a bit of data, typing anything while it runs will abort the replay.
Ok thanks JC. The reason i asked was that no page information gets displayed when issuing a "r" or "d" command - so i might be doing something strange. I initially planned to use the flash buffer to retrieve the timestamped signals from the IR Plugs&JeeNodes. But i think i will just timestamped the incoming signals on the Jeelink and write it out to the serial port so that the application on the laptop can calc the difference (in milis) between the signals. BTW, this is really good stuff, glad i came across the JeeLabs site.
Could you show the first few lines you see when connecting to your JeeLink?

I got my JeeLink2 some days ago. I played around a little bit, but have some problems with the newest RF12demo.7 (latest SVN version). After connecting with a terminal emulator, I got the help output as desired. But I'm missing the information about the data flash memory... I also tried the .6 version, nothing there, only a blank line... What I'm doing wrong? Any hints? regards C
Ok, found my problem from previous post: my JeeLink has a 8Mbit data flash. After switching the define:
#define FLASH4MBIT 1
to
#define FLASH8MBIT 1
everything regarding the flash seems to be normal now :-)

I have the same problem but the solution doesn't clear my problem. Is there perhaps a different flash chip installed in my device?

I added a serial.print to the RF12demo script loaded into my Jeelink. It looks like the flash may be faulty or absent since the print produces a 0:

Hi JohnO, you may check your JeeLink with a magnifying glass: There are three ICs in the JeeLink. The quadratic one is the AVR=Processor, the big rectangular one is the FTDI chip = USB chip. And the last one, a smaller 8-pin chip is the data flash chip. On mine is printed:

26DF081A
SU
If you see the same numbers, you have a 8MBit = 1Mbyte data flash chip and you should make the same change as I stated before.

I think that is a 4meg chip. It must be faulty. JohnO.
Yes, you're right, it's a 4Mbit chip. But I'm not sure, if this is faulty! Maybe you contact JC directly and ask him, which kind of chip he uses at the moment... Christian
There are now some first units with 16 Mbit, so be sure to get the latest code and try that size as well.

I have the same problem.
Solved. The chip's two pins had a defective solder. After re-solder the chip started to work.
Darn. Still those bad builds. All I can say is that the current builds are done by considerably more professional people. And tested (as promised, unlike the previous suppliers), including the dataflash.
