usb bub problem or jeenode 5 problem ?

I received my jeenode5 and usb bub this weekend and put it together.
Which configuration do i use for the usb bub in this manual ? http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0038/9582/files/USBBUBinstructions.02.pdf
At the moment my usb bub is like configuration 1. output 5volt and i think that's not oke. Should i use configuration 4. Cut the 5v and make a bridge to 3.3v. What is the function of the jumper ? What position should the jumper be placed.
1 led on the usb bub blinks a few time when connection to pc. After that no led on the usb bub. Is this normal ?
The manual for the jeenode5 is pretty easy to follow and i think everything is mounted ok on the the board although i can't connect to it with Arduino IDE monitor. The comport shows but no connection in the serial monitor. I bridged the location of the diode that is no longer used on the V5.

Configuration 1 is the proper one. The 5V get's regulated by the onboard voltage regulator on the Jeenode. A blinking LED for a few seconds is ok, after that it should not burn.
Are you sure there is a sketch on it? Did you try flashing for example the RF12 demo sketch? Is the serial port monitor configured at 57600 baud?

Port monitor has the correct settings. The same settings as the jeelink which works fine.
How do i upload a sketch ? When is load the demo sketch i found on this site in Arduino IDE and click upload i get serveral errors during compiling. I can post the this evening.
I've checked with a multimeter if there is power on the jeenode.
After the voltage regulator i have 3.3v. After the resitor i have 3.3v. On the power connectors of the IO ports i have 5v
What else can i check to make sure the jeenode 5 is working correctly ?

Did you check your solder points. When I put together my first JeeNode, it wasn't working with the USB BUB either. Turned out I didn't properly solder on the FTDI header pins. Luckily I noticed one of them was loose when I moved it.

The Arduino IDE won't perform an upload before you get rid of all of 'em.

I succesfully compiled RF12DEMO with arduino IDE.
During uploading to board i get the following Problem.

    Binary sketch size: 11626 bytes (of a 30720 byte maximum)
    avrdude: stk500getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
    avrdude: stk500disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51
```
Could there be a problem with my Atmega chip or an other component on the board.
With a multimeter i tracked all power connections.
The boards get 5v. After voltage regulator 3.3v. after small resistor 3.27v on wireless module 3.29v on power pin (last pin on antenne side)
On the RX pin of the FTDI header 2.8 v (when measuring led on bub flahses and strange sign in serial monitor. On the TX ping of the FTDI header 3.3v
Measured both sided FTDI header on jeenode and on bub so connector should be fine.
On the IO ports there is 5v on the power pins and 3v on the 3volt pins

"not in sync" is a frequent visitor here. That happens with wrong board or com port selections in the Arduino IDE. (I use both 168s and 328s and several com ports simultaneously)

In IDE board arduino Duemilanova or nano w/ATmega328 is selected and also the correct com port. Like in the build manual on this website.
I've changed the compoort on mx xp 32bit pc from 13 to 2 so see if that corrects the problem. No still not working.
Serial monitor is set to 57600baud

True, alas. Choose the Duemilanove w/ 328 as board type in the Arduino IDE.
Does the serial console work? Do you get the RF12demo startup greeting? Can you send it a command (such as "0q") and see it respond? If so, then both RX and TX will be working - if the failure still persists, check the RESET/RTS/DTR connections.
Hm, it's probably time to start writing a trouble-shooting guide. As you can see in the previous paragraph, there are a series of steps you can go through to rule out various problems one by one.

I don't get the startup greeting with the jeenode 5 Sending command does not give any response.
The IDE and seriel monitor work fine with the jeelink. Startup greeting and possible to turn the led on and off.
Going to check the connections tomorrow. It's getting late :-( What is the best way to check the connections ?

JC please have a look at my email subject "order 2958"
Ordered a second set of jeenode and bub. Hopefully this one works so i can test what the problem is in the first set. Hopefully i can sort out if the problem is in the first jeenode or in the first usb bub...
